Planetree Remembers Mary Kay Barnes: For many years, Mary Kay greeted patrons at the front desk, handled phone calls and other inquiries, added to the 24 drawers of article files, and was our best organizer and most gracious hostess for many a special event. Persons who have visited Planetree Health Resource Center in person will also know of her other work at the library: her exquisite flowers. By encouraging friends and neighbors to donate from their yards, and through the care of a small "cutting garden" that she planted behind our parking lot, Mary Kay created several places of serene beauty in the library through her flower arrangements each week. A healing environment has always been a hallmark of the Planetree philosophy.; People in the library often commented about herartistry -- "It makes me feel calm, just to look at those lovely flowers . . ."
