National Alliance on Mental Illness: (NAMI) is a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and anxiety disorders. Site includes overview and description of the illnesses and information on treatments.

National Mental Health Association Fact Sheets: Each fact sheets defines the illness, discusses how many people are affected by it, and lists symptoms, causes and treatments.

NIMH National Institute of Mental Health: This website offers information from NIMH about the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illnesses. Included are brochures and information sheets, reports, press releases, fact sheets, and other educational materials.

NOAH (New York Online Access to Health): Mental Health: Includes the basics, care and treatment and links to reliable articles on all the specific conditions and disorders from Anorexia Nervosa to Tourette Syndrome.

Psych Central: This website contains a wealth of mental health resources, such as a resource directory, a medication library, community support forums and symptom checklists with detailed treatment information.

Self-Help Sourcebook OnLine: an online directory of national and local self-help groups that can provide information, fellowship, support group meetings and newsletters. The sourcebook is directly searchable by medical diagnosis or topic and is the largest directory of its kind.
